Volunteer Opportunities
The number of homeless along with others unable to afford healthcare or insurance is growing exponentially. The Gary Burnstein Community Health Clinic’s mission is to provide these people with medical and dental care services absolutely free of charge. These services are currently being provided to Oakland County residence on Thursday evening and on the first and third Tuesday morning. Our clinic is located at 90 West University in Pontiac.
Our volunteers are essential to keep the clinic open and providing patients with needed proper medical treatment.
We are only asking for one evening a week, month, or even a year of your time. A few hours out of your schedule would make the world of difference to a person in need.
Our clinic is in need of:
Volunteer medical staff
• Doctors of all specialties
• Nurses
• Physicians Assistances
• Nurse Practitioners
• Dentists
• Dental Hygienists/ Assistances
• Pharmacists |
Volunteer non-medical
• File Clerk
• Patient Reception
• Clerical
• Outreach
• Fund Development
|
We would appreciate any help that you may provide.
When two clinic patients were asked about the barriers of getting health care they replied; “No insurance means no help” and the second said: “Lack of money and transportation are the biggest barriers. Getting to a pharmacy that carries the medication you need is one thing, but then having a dollar, one rotten darn dollar, can be challenging on occasions.”
Thank you for your time and consideration.
